Pregnancy Care

Your pregnancy deserves personal, expert care from the very first scan.

At The OBGYN Centre, every pregnant patient is seen personally by Dr Kenneth Wong throughout her entire pregnancy journey. There are no handoffs to junior doctors, no shared wards, and no impersonal queues. From your first positive pregnancy test to the moment you hold your baby, you will have one dedicated specialist who knows your history, understands your concerns, and is reachable 24 hours a day.

Your baby’s safety, and yours, is the foundation of everything we do. From your very first scan to the moment you hold your baby, you will be guided through each stage of your pregnancy with clarity, reassurance, and continuity of care; so you always know what to expect and why.

Your care is led personally by Dr Kenneth Wong, who brings over 30 years of clinical experience and more than 1,000 deliveries across Singapore’s leading hospitals.

If a caesarean delivery is needed, he is trained in advanced techniques that can reduce post-operative pain and support faster recovery. For vaginal births, his reconstructive training ensures careful, precise repair to help you heal comfortably after delivery.

Dr Wong is conversant in English, Mandarin (普通话), and Japanese (日本語)

The Delivery — what sets it apart

Dr Wong personally delivers your baby at your chosen private hospital.

For caesarean deliveries

Dr Wong has been trained and mentored in Paris in The French ambulatory caesarean section technique (FAUCS), which incorporates

A meticulous cosmetic wound closure protocol is applied to every caesarean scar as standard.

For vaginal deliveries

The precision and anatomical care of reconstructive techniques for vaginal floor rejuvenation and labiaplasty developed in the Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation Institute of America in Los Angeles is applied to any episiotomy or perineal repair; with the aim of producing a better cosmetic outcome, a lower wound breakdown rate, and a faster, more comfortable recovery.

VBAC

Vaginal Birth After Caesarean (VBAC) in Singapore

VBAC is a clinically viable alternative to repeat caesarean section for carefully selected patients. When appropriate, it avoids major abdominal surgery, supports faster recovery, and reduces surgical risk in future pregnancies.
Suitability is determined by individual assessment and not general preference.

Am I a Candidate for VBAC?

Dr Wong will assess your suitability based on:

  • Type and location of your previous uterine incision
  • Number of previous caesarean sections
  • Reason your previous caesarean was performed
  • Baby’s size, position, and how labour begins in the current pregnancy

Not every patient will qualify. You will receive an honest, individualised assessment.

How VBAC Labour Is Managed

Approved VBAC candidates are managed with close vigilance throughout labour:

  • Continuous electronic fetal monitoring
  • High suspicion index for uterine scar stress or fetal distress
  • Low threshold for conversion to emergency caesarean if needed

The goal is the safest outcome — not vaginal delivery at any cost.

Delivering at a Private Hospital

Dr Wong is personally present and immediately available throughout your labour. Anaesthetic and theatre teams at your chosen hospital are on standby. If an emergency caesarean becomes necessary, the response is immediate and not dependent on a shared on-call roster.

Managing Higher-Risk Pregnancies

Not all pregnancies are straightforward, and some require specialist input beyond routine obstetric care. Dr Wong’s approach is to remain your primary doctor throughout whilst coordinating the right expertise around your specific needs

Gestational diabetes is co-managed with an endocrinologist to ensure:

  • Precise sugar control via diet and/or medication
  • Growth monitoring for excessive fetal growth
  • Close monitoring of fetal well-being
  • Appropriate mode and timing of delivery

Hypertensive disorders and pre-eclampsia are managed with maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) involvement where clinically indicated:

  • Screening for high risk cases and prevention with medication
  • Precise blood pressure control with appropriate medication
  • Close monitoring of blood pressure and kidney function
  • Blood investigations to ensure maternal well-being and organ function
  • Growth monitoring for suboptimal fetal growth
  • Advanced ultrasound doppler for measuring placental function
  • Close monitoring of fetal well-being
  • Appropriate mode and timing of delivery

Multiple pregnancies receive MFM co-management antenatally, with Dr Wong delivering:

  • Specialised dual fetal growth and well-being monitoring
  • Close surveillance for maternal complications
  • Close liaison with paediatrians / neonatologists
  • Appropriate mode and timing of delivery

Fetal anomalies identified on scanning are counselled by a specialized team comprising:

  • MFM
  • paediatric surgery
  • neonatology

Pregnancies complicated by serious medical conditions such as significant cardiac or renal disease are referred to the appropriate institutional setting, with Dr Wong coordinating the transition of care.
Whatever the complexity, you will have one doctor who knows your history, leads your care, and is with you at delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I first see an OBGYN after a positive pregnancy test?

You should see an OBGYN between 6 and 8 weeks of pregnancy for confirmation of a viable intrauterine pregnancy by ultrasound, establishment of your estimated due date, and first-trimester genetic screening for chromosomal conditions such as Down syndrome.

At a private OBGYN clinic, you are seen by the same named specialist at every single visit — not a rotating roster of doctors. Waiting times are shorter, appointments are flexible, care is fully personalised, and you have direct 24-hour access to your doctor throughout pregnancy. You also have a free choice of delivery hospital.

An extraperitoneal caesarean section delivers the baby without opening the peritoneal cavity — the internal space surrounding the abdominal organs. Compared to a standard caesarean, it results in less post-operative pain, faster bowel recovery, lower risk of internal adhesions, and a smoother overall recovery.
A precise perineal repair restores the pelvic floor musculature correctly, produces a better cosmetic result, and significantly reduces the risk of wound complications and the need for secondary correction.
Dr Wong delivers at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital, Thomson Medical Centre, Mount Alvernia Hospital, Raffles Hospital, and Parkway East Hospital.

Yes. Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents can use Medisave for both pre-delivery and delivery expenses under the Medisave Maternity Package (MMP), which applies to deliveries at private hospitals including those where Dr Wong holds privileges.

These are claimed after delivery by submitting your pre-delivery bills to the hospital where you delivered.
•Delivery expenses (effective 1 April 2025) are:
Normal vaginal delivery: up to $1,120
Caesarean section: up to $2,770
•Daily hospitalisation charges :

$400 per day thereafter.

Private hospital delivery costs typically exceed Medisave withdrawal limits, and the balance will be payable by cash or through an applicable integrated shield plan. Our staff will walk you through the full cost and funding picture prior to delivery booking.
